Keep Calm and Read the Book Before the Movie

City Park Campus Library has the book version of my of today's popular movies.  Ask one of our librarians about some of these exciting books. Below are just a few of the many titles we carry.

Set in Earth's future, the novel presents an imperiled mankind after two conflicts with the "Buggers", in insectoid alien species. the film (released in 2013) received mixed reviews, but the book was a best seller.

This tightly woven novel is told from two perspectives: that of a husband whose wife suddenly goes missing and from the the missing wife herself. Ben Affleck and Rosamund Pike star in the film, released October 3, 2013.

The prequel to the Lord of the Rings, the Hobbit is the story of Bilbo Baggins's journey - and adventures along the way - through Middle Earth. Martin Freeman, Ian McKellen, and Orlando Bloom will reprise their Hobbit roles in the third film, titled The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies release date December 17, 2014.

Pastry Arts 200 Students Create Underwater Artwork Made Entirely of Sugar

Right now on display at the Jefferson Campus are works of art created by 2 Pastry arts students.  Leoquandra Collins and Alyssa Blanchard created scenes of an aquatic nature completely from sugar.

Delgado Community College is becoming TOBACCO FREE this fall! In accordance with Louisiana Act No. 211, and in an effort to promote a safer, healthier, and cleaner college environment for all, Delgado will initiate a TOBACCO FREE policy for all of its locations.

Effective August 1, 2014, the use of tobacco products will be prohibited in and around all Delgado buildings, sidewalks, and parking areas.

The DCC Library and Adult Ed program are teaming up for this semester’s Computer Basics Classes. Today’s CB class will be about Internet Basics.

Classes are free and meet at the City Park campus in Building 10, Room 134 (the library classroom) from 2-3pm.

Quick points: 
  • We are encouraging students to register for these classes by calling the Adult Ed office at  504-671-5434
  • They will be held from 2-3pm in the Library Classroom (Bldg. 10, Rm. 134). 
This month, the Jefferson campus’ library display board focuses on African Americans in the Technical Trades.

Delgado Community College will be closed Tuesday, January 28, 2014. Fortunately, you can use the library's resources while you're at home. Please visit us at http://dcc.libguides.com/library.

You can search our online catalog to find books, DVD's, and e-books.

You can use Delgado Library's database to access thousands of journal articles, book reviews, newspaper articles and more. Choose "Find Databases" at the top of the screen to see the drop down menu.



You can choose to search our databases alphabetically.

Or you can choose to search our databases by subject.

Remember, you will have to use your Delgado e-mail username and password to access the database while you are off campus. Please watch the following video for more information on remote access.
